It's sad to say, but true of everyone. We are a prideful people. each and every person on this earth, at one point or another, some more often than others, suffers from pride. NOBODY IS PERFECT. so please don't judge any religion by the actions of a few. I was reading in Helaman chapter 3 and I came across a few versus that put this into perspective a little bit.
33 And in the fifty and first year of the reign of the judges there was peace also, save it were the pride which began to enter into the church—not into the church of God, but into the hearts of the people who professed to belong to the church of God—
34 And they were lifted up in pride, even to the persecution of many of their brethren. Now this was a great evil, which did cause the more humble part of the people to suffer great persecutions, and to wade through much affliction.
I know many people who have been wronged by someone who claimed to be a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints or "Mormons". My friends associated how they were treated, with the religion of the person who did them wrong. It pains me to hear these stories because my beliefs and what the LDS church is about is love for one anther. Yet because of the actions of a few it destroys that for people who might otherwise find that joy and belief I have found.
Please don't let someone's actions push you away from finding the truth of a religion. I don't care what religion it is. Let your own findings and the spirit of God help you decide, by studying and finding the truth for yourself.
James 1:5
If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.
Moroni 10:4-5
4 And when ye shall receive these things, I would exhort you that ye would ask God, the Eternal Father, in the name of Christ, if these things are not true; and if ye shall ask with a sincereheart, with real intent, having faith in Christ, he will manifest the truth of it unto you, by the power of the Holy Ghost.
5 And by the power of the Holy Ghost ye may know the truth of all things.

Someone is always watching
Sunday March 6, 2011
Today was fast Sunday. I realized I needed to fast today to prepare myself. I prayed simply that I wouldn't be uncomfortable and that I would not hunger while I fasted. (This may not seem so hard, but for me it is. Plus I was kind of testing my faith and God's blessings. even the simple ones.) God kept me comforted all day. He was there with me like he always is and always will be. As soon as Sacrament started I knew I needed to bare my testimony. I tried telling myself I didn't need to, but God knows better. I started shaking uncontrollably again (this has happened before, almost like I was being pushed out of my chair) and I knew I needed to do this. So as soon as Bishop Wright finished his testimony and opened the floor, I was on my feet. I felt that I needed to lead the way. Before I got up I was praying to be able to have the strength and know what I needed to say. I asked God to be there with me and I can tell you without any doubt, he was there!
Prayer is something you can always do, no matter where you are or who your with. Amen does not mean "the end", it is just a chance for you to agree with what has already been said. Pray continuously! Pray Always! And always listen to the spirit, he will never guide you astray. Have faith to listen and pray and you will be blessed. I KNOW this is true.
What hit me the hardest is what happened at the very end of fast and testimony meeting. A woman came in from out in the foyer and bore her testimony. She thanked whoever it was who said to "listen to that voice inside your head, it is God and his spirit whispering and guiding you". I later found out that this woman was a very inactive convert. Her family would come but this mother was very difficult to bring into the church. But because of the voice of one person, she had the strength and felt the need to stand in front of a room of strangers and bare her testimony about God in her life. It just shows how powerful the word of God is, and how you may not know how strongly you can effect someones life, just by being there and doing what is right. Follow the whisperings of the spirit, let him guide you and help you along the way. This church is true. I say these things in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.
